Ukraine’s top champion wins second belt at Battle of Nations event in Austria

Danylo Orlow has won the Ultimate Kombat Wrestling Association Steiermark Championship today at the UKWA’s Battle of Nations show in Gössendorf, Austria. Danylo hails from Ukraine, where he also wrestles as thePoison for Ukrainian Wrestling Arena and is the current champion of the promotion.

Ukrainian Wrestling Arena was happy to share the news of the big win to both their Facebook and Instagram pages with a post in Ukrainian that has been translated below.

“Friends!

Some positive news in these trying times! Today, March 12, 2022, the champion of the Ukrainian Wrestling Arena thePoison, participated in the show of Austrian promotion Ultimate Kombat Wrestling Association "Battle of Nations", where he answered the open challenge of Steiermark champion Hektor. In the hellish confrontation, Poison showed true Ukrainian power and will to victory, and became the new UKWA Steiermark champion!

We are proud and Congratulations to our Champion!!!

Glory to Ukraine!”

The Odessa-based Ukrainian Wrestling Arena was set to be in action with a show of their own, their annual Crime Scene event (this edition being Crime Scene VI) on February 26th. Unfortunately, the UWA was forced to cancel the event after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.

The now double champion, whether he’s going by Danylo Orlow or thePoison, is an impressive wrestler. Standing in the 6’4” range, Orlow was trained by former WCW star Alex Wright and possesses great agility for his size which allows him to pull off acrobatic maneuvers that other wrestlers his size normally can’t. Check out his Instagram account for some of his highlights!

The UKWA’s Battle of Nations event featured wrestlers from several different countries including Austria, Germany, Russia, Slovakia and more. The UKWA’s Heavyweight Title also changed hands at the event in the night’s main event. In that match, Austria’s Rocknrolla took down Demolition Davies to become the new champion. Pro Wrestling Österreich had great live coverage of the event on their Instagram story which you can catch for the next day or so.
