New tag team champions in China

Middle Kingdom Wrestling has completed their tournament to crown their inaugural tag team champions. The team of C2NY, which consists of New York, USA native Buffa and his tag team partner DC Chen, captured the tag titles on MKW’s most recent episode of their weekly YouTube show Blast-Off. This win guarantees that C2NY will be in action at MKW’s live broadcast episode of Blast-Off, set for July 23rd.

This tag team championship victory caps off a big month for Buffa. The charismatic, boom box carrying, native New Yorker recently became the inaugural champion of the brand new Chinese pro wrestling organization Infinite Battle Empire Wrestling on May 25th.

C2NY took the titles in the main event of this week’s Blast-Off episode after beating The Stable in the tournament final. The Stable, who has made their name known in Chinese pro wrestling over the last few months with their brash, anti-authority attitude, had control of the match until late when DC Chen turned the tides with an extremely athletic springboard maneuver off of his opponent’s back to save Buffa, who was in imminent danger of being finished off for the pinfall. After the big momentum sway, Buffa hit a solid top rope face buster and DC Chen sealed the deal for C2NY with a monster frog splash.

With the win, Buffa solidified himself as a top force on the Chinese pro wrestling scene. DC Chen’s heroic performance in the night’s main event also puts him in the conversation of MKW’s best wrestler. DC Chen has often found himself just on the verge of cashing in on major opportunities but this tag title win is a major breakthrough.
