Bolivia’s Cholitas Wrestlers to participate in world cup tournament
The world famous Cholitas wrestlers of Bolivia are in action every Sunday for the Bolivian promotion Lucha Libre Lider at the Coliseo Villa Dolores in La Paz at 4:30 PM (16:30) local time. Starting this Sunday, though, the Cholitas wrestlers are set to kick off a unique event that lines up perfectly with some other big events currently happening in the sporting world.
Bolivia’s famous fighting luchadoras are preparing to launch the Cholitas Wrestling World Cup! Each of the ladies are set to represent a different country with quarterfinals kicking off at this Sunday’s event and the final set for the upcoming Naviluchas 2022 event. Over the past couple years, Naviluchas has taken place on Christmas night, with those two events being scheduled outside of Lider’s usual every Sunday schedule and taking place on Friday and Saturday over the past two years. This year, with Christmas falling on a Sunday, it’s expected that Naviluchas will again fall on Christmas and that’s when the winner of the Cholitas World Cup tournament will be crowned.
For those unfamiliar with the Cholitas wrestlers, they’re Bolivian lady wrestlers that compete in traditional dress and can do it all in the ring. From traditional pro wrestling and lucha libre style matches, they even delve into the realm of the ultra-dangerous hardcore match.
Three of the Cholitas have been announced for the tournament so far and will be kicking things off this Sunday at Coliseo Villa Dolores. First, representing Argentina, will be Maria Jose Simonini.
Jenny Fer Dos Caras will be representing Germany.
Benita La Intocable, the winner of the 2022 Cholitas Golden Championship, will be representing Italy.
Finally, a fourth Cholita wrestler, Marina, is set to make her debut with Lider and will be introduced to the crowd this Sunday.
Lider has also kicked off a men’s version of the World Cup tournament that will be decided at Naviluchas.
Other Cholitas wrestlers are advertised as being part of the Lider roster and could be slated to appear for the company on any given Sunday. These wrestlers include the masked Nely La Pankarita and Angela La Simpatica.
There’s also men’s action advertised for this coming Sunday. So far, those matches include Ali Farak Jr. taking on El Sagitario, Klisman Simonini and Ninja Boliviano will both be taking on a mystery opponents, Zeus El Espanta Pajaros will make his debut and Lobo Negro of Colombia will battle El Ray Chabali in a chain match!
