Argentina’s Duelo de Leyendas welcomes crowd back for final show of 2021

“Yo te puedo decir que es el mejor show para la familia que hay”

“I can tell you that this is the best family show there is”

Duelo de Leyendas closed their year with a show with an audience for the first time in a while. The Villa Tesei-based promotion had a year with a lot of ups and downs, but they managed to have a great show, with a lot of remembrance for the past while also giving a spot to younger talent.

The first match saw Barakus, a powerhouse, wrestle against the nimble Xtreme Dragon. After a very uneven match, dominated by Barakus' size and power, the Powerhouse defeated the Highflier and took the win.

The second match pitted Psicopata Jr., successor to the original Psicopata, against Cara de Piedra, a debuting wrestler. The newcomer managed to overcome the odds and beat the legacy to take the win.

The third match was a tag bout that involved Los Hermanos Garcilaso, Machuca and Demetrio, two veteran mainstays in the Argentine scene (With a combined wrestling experience close to 90 years) against Diestro, a Bolivian Masked Luchador living in Argentina known for his skill, teaming with Lautaro Linz, a young wrestler from Mar del Plata, a traditional holiday destination in Argentina.

Machuca and Demetrio defeated the makeshift team, with only Diestro managing to keep the pace of the seasoned, yet surprisingly mobile for their age, wrestling brothers. Linz wasn’t exactly a factor in the match. The veterans added another victory to their long careers.

The next match was a triple threat for the “Tituló Máximo de Duelo de Leyendas” held by Aaron Zero. His challengers were the agile Brian Sabbath and the eccentric Lyon Riot. Hijinks ensued as the referee was replaced mid-match by Lautaro Linz. Romeo Islas spent most of the match at ringside antagonizing Aaron with a microphone.

In the end Aaron Zero retained his title, pinning Sabbath while Lyon Riot was outside the ring.

The main event involved a match for the vacant “Campeonato Argentino de Duelo de Leyendas” title. Bobby Cruz, a mainstay of the promotion with many great matches under his belt fought Ariel Santos, a newcomer to the company, but not to wrestling, as he had a storied career under other aliases in other promotions.

Overall, this was a very close match with both wrestlers giving their all to get the coveted prize. But Cruz was hungrier for the vacant title and managed to overcome the newcomer to become the Champion. His celebration was cut short by Ripper Inmortal, who said he wanted to be the Champion and as he is the booker Cruz needed to defeat him to get the title.

Bobby Cruz jumped over this last, and unexpected hurdle, by defeating Ripper and assuring his domain over the title.
