Pakistani pro wrestling debuts on Pakistan TV

Pakistani pro wrestling has made its debut on Pakistan television! This past Saturday, Revolution Eastern Wrestling’s debut episode of Venus War aired on Venus HD TV. The first episode served as a good introduction piece to the company for new fans that were tuning in as the episode featured a historical recap of REW’s championship title belts and quick matches that helped to introduce the company’s wrestlers to a new fan base.

The entire episode runs for just under a half hour and is hosted by Nazish Ayaz. The first bout of the night featured a tag team match between the teams of Talha Ali and Green Cheetah and Leo Albert and Yohanna Bhatti. Talha Ali wound up turning on his partner Green Cheetah, costing the team the match and setting up the second match of the episode, Green Cheetah vs. Talha Ali. Talha Ali wound up coming out on top in that bout after distracting the referee and using a low blow on his opponent before hitting a curb stomp for the win.

The final two matches of the first episode were both title matches. The first title match saw REW Fight or Die Champion Xekay retain his title against Abuzar Psychosmasher after winning by disqualification when he tricked the referee into believing that Abuzar had hit him with the championship belt. The referee fell for Xekay’s dirty tricks and awarded Xekay the victory. Meanwhile, Xekay has taken to social media to brag about his “winning streak.”

The main event of the night was a fatal four way for the vacant Ring of Slam World Heavyweight Championship. Ring of Slam was one of the first wrestling promotions in Pakistan but it has since dissolved. Their championship title was the first championship title that was contested for in Pakistani pro wrestling, with current REW wrestler and President The Kovu Brandon Bilal Afridi becoming the first holder of that title. The ROS World Heavyweight Championship would then be introduced into REW by The Kovu Brandon a few years ago and has been defended in the company since. The championship belt is considered to be on equal footing with the REW World Heavyweight Championship (currently held by Gopal Sharma) as the promotion’s top title.

The last ROS champion, Noom, had recently vacated the belt after joining the Pakistani Army. The fatal four way to determine the new champion consisted of Ahmed Boyka, Talha Ali, Billu Badmash and the debuting Baba Chang, the heaviest pro wrestler in Pakistan. Ahmed Boyka came out of the match as the winner and is now the Ring of Slam World Heavyweight Champion.

Prior to the debut of the first episode of Venus War, Venus HD TV aired a couple of specials featuring information on both REW and the history of pro wrestling in Pakistan. Unfortunately, neither program is in English but you can check them out below!
