Head trainer of French Professional Wrestling Organisation touring Mexico

WrestleMap recently heard from El Matador, a Portuguese wrestler who’s currently based out of France and working as the head trainer at the French Professional Wrestling Organisation. El Matador reached out to discuss some details about a current excursion he’s on in Mexico. As a site that focuses on international pro wrestling, one of our favorite things to cover is wrestlers traveling around the world.

El Matador shared a recent experience with us that we thought was cool and unique and worth sharing with our readers here. He recently wrestled at an event in Villa Guadalupe Xalostoc, a village located in the State of Mexico, that was organized by the town’s mayor. The event wasn’t affiliated with a local promotion, but instead, was a one time spot show.

El Matador, for his part, wrestled in a best of 3 falls trios tag match. His team consisted of Robin and Guerrero Maya from the CMLL, one of Mexico’s major Lucha Libre promotions. They took on the team of CMLL veterans Nitro and Rey Bucanero, and Antoine St. Brice.

El Matador’s team would go on to win the bout after losing the first fall but taking the second two. Being able to add a win against a lucha legend like Rey Bucanero to your record is definitely a pretty cool achievement.

El Matador is set to remain in Mexico until the end of May and plans to wrestle on more events while he’s in the country. Thanks to El Matador for sending over this info and good luck to him the rest of this month!

May 7 Update: El Matador was invited to the May 7th show at Arena Coliseo, CMLL’s home arena. There, he met up with CMLL luchador Nitro and the two posed for some photos as they are both members of the group Mafia Française.

May 12 Update: El Matador will be competing on an event promoted by Lucha Libre legend Rey Bucanero. The show is set for Saturday, May 21st at Arena Rey Bucanero in Mexico City. May 15 Update: El Matador wrested in a trios match at the Rey Bucanero Arena on a private show in a one fall match. He teamed with El Furia and Blue Win and they took on ABC, Perseo and Antoine St. Brice. Matador’s team took the victory after all three wrestlers rolled up one of their opponents in a small package for the pinfall.
