World professional wrestlers to converge in Nigeria for Asagba’s birthday celebration
It is no more news that the Asagba of Asagba, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien CFR, JP, on the occasion of his 97th birthday, will be celebrating among his subjects in Asaba on Saturday 31st July 2021 in commemoration of his birth date of July 28th. He has provided purposeful, courageous and tenacious leadership for the Asaba people over the last 30 years since he ascended the throne of his forefathers and he deserves to be celebrated on his new, great and enviable age and also for making Asaba land peaceful and investment-friendly to all and sundry over the years.
The news is that in commemoration of the 97th birthday of the Asagba of Asaba, who is a royal icon and an elder statesman, and who is also marking his 30 year anniversary on the throne as Asagba, His Royal Majesty of Asaba, the Nigeria Pro Wrestling Federation (NPWF), under the leadership of High Chief John Uche, deem it fit to celebrate, honour and felicitate with the Asagba, who has contributed to all spheres of development in the ‘’Big Heart State’’.
To achieve this lofty idea, seven international world rated wrestlers have indicated sincere interest to be in Nigeria for the Asagba International Pro Wrestling Championship and they are: Deadly Shark from the United Arab Emirate (UAE), Lady Naglaa Goher of Egypt, De Wolf NDA and Kirikou (K.W. Crazy tag team) from Cameroon, Ultimate Power of Ghana, USA Bing of Congo Democratic Republic and Buffalo of Angola.
Leading the team of the Nigerian home based talents to Asaba is the Mighty Man, the Nigeria Pro Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion and title holder. Others on the bill are: Mr. Sharpman and the Young Mike of the De Grippers tag team sensation, the Onitsha in Anambra State-based Squeezer in the super heavy weight rank, Aliking De Action Disaster, the African TopClass Wrestling Stars (ATWS) Middleweight Champion and the current holder of the National Security, Peace and Unity Trophy; Strong Bone Erujeje, Super Rosco, Black Tiger, masked man the Flying Danko who is agile enough to compete with any comer, Rasman Iron (also an Onitsha based talent), masked man Wil Mascaras, and the duo of Zion Lion and Power Vic of the Dakkada Thunders tag team from Akwa Ibom State, respectively.
The camp of the lady wrestlers consists of: Alexandra De Queen, Stylish J, Iron Lady Becky and, latest on the block, Triple J, who are all ready and set to storm Asaba for the Asagba pro wrestling show of glory.
Who is who in Delta State and some other parts of Nigeria will be converging at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on the 7th August 2021 to honor the Asagba of Asaba. The President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, will definitely be represented at the timely occasion. The former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, has agreed to be the Father of the day at the event. He will be travelling all the way from Abeokuta in Ogun State to Honour the Asagba and this is highly appreciated.
The Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, will be the Guest of Honour at this convergence that would bring all the renowned monarchs in Delta State together in Asaba to witness the first of its kind pro wrestling championship in our part of the world, alongside the 25 local government chairmen in Delta State. Chief Tony Elumelu CON has been invited as the chairman of the occasion while Hon. (Dr.) Prince Ned Nwoko would be the Special Guest.
According to Hon. Valentine Mokolo, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairman of the championship who has been working extra hard in Asaba to make sure that the championship sees the light of day against all odds: ‘’the only thing we can do to appreciate the Asagba is to celebrate him while [he’s] still living with this kind of professional wrestling show of great magnitude. We would be bringing together world notable wrestling talents who would be competing for glory in Asaba while he (Asagba) is seated watching. As a wrestling lover himself, Asagba as a royal monarch has been amazing and a blessing not only to the people of Asaba land, but humanity in general. His intellectual and leadership qualities have paved the way for development in different facets of human endeavor especially in medicine and academics, so nothing is too much for a man of his caliber’’ Mokolo concluded.

As part of the fun for the event and to also bless the attending fans, there will be raffle draws and the winners will go home with fantastic prizes of cars, microwaves and other consolated prizes. Fans are to keep their tickets as the numbers on the tickets will be called to pick winners.
