The Great Congolese Clash! A brand new full event video coming soon to WrestleMap!

Coming soon to WrestleMap! Our next FULL EVENT video! This time, we return to the Republic of the Congo to the northern city of Ouésso for a night of high quality Congolese pro wrestling or, as they call it in the Congo, Catch Congolais!

Here’s what you can expect from The Great Congolese Clash:

-The current reigning Champion of the Congo and Champion of Brazzaville, RTGA Du Pouvoir Lion in action twice

-The Queen of Congolese Wrestling, La Reine Shakira (Queen Shakira) in action twice

-Former Champion of the Congo in Classic Style, the masked Safrane, in action

-Former Champion of the Congo in Congolese Style (catch fetiche/voodoo wrestling) Bougies Rouge in action

-fire and explosions

-Congolese style voodoo wrestling, or catch fetiche

While Catch Congolais is a unique style all its own, there are certainly some parallels to be made to pro wrestling scenes from other parts of the world. For example, at The Great Congolese Clash, the wrestlers compete on mats, similar to what can be seen on the Japanese indie scene in promotions such as Gatoh Move/Choco Pro and beyond. Some of the wrestlers will also use fire and explosions as part of their offense, another style that grew in popularity on the puroresu scene and has also expanded beyond, to North America and elsewhere. The moves and the grappling will be similar to what you see in mainstream pro wrestling promotions such as the WWE, AEW, Impact Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling but some of the offense will have a distinctly Congolese flair.

One of the most intriguing and unique parts of Congolese pro wrestling is the brass band that plays fanfare that coincides with the action at ringside. You’ll have to catch the full event video to hear them!

Stay tuned for the full release of The Great Congolese Clash coming soon to our YouTube channel and WrestleMap.com!

In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye on WrestleMap.com for coverage of Congolese pro wrestling, African pro wrestling and pro wrestling from all over the world!
