Iran Pro Wrestling releases new event video to YouTube

The last time we checked in with Iran Pro Wrestling, they had just released their event Begin to their YouTube channel. We shared some information about the young Iranian pro wrestling scene in that article and we’ve since learned a little bit more that we’re able to share. IPW is the culmination of a twelve year journey to establish a pro wrestling scene in Iran. The promotion is headed up by wrestler Pahlevan Reza who had formerly worked with Iran Wrestling Group before establishing IPW in Rasht, Iran. IPW has also been recruiting, training and debuting new talent with Reza heading up the training process.

Speaking of Pahlevan Reza, Time of Revenge, the new release from IPW, starts off with a match between him and The Butcher that is certainly impressive coming from a group of mostly self-trained wrestlers. This match is the culmination of a feud between the two and is a great way to kick off the show. A singles match between Miti Toman and Iran’s only rapping pro wrestler, Street Boy, follows. Again, both wrestlers looked good and had a compelling match with Street Boy showing off some impressive power at times during the match.

Rose and Darky Casper were featured in the third bout of the show. They went back and forth exchanging offense for a pretty evenly matched bout. Next, Dark Knight and APK would have a confrontation in the ring following a promo from an injured APK leading to Dark Knight going one on one with Rose for his second match of the event. Rose is a member of APK’s faction, Gangster Squad. Dark Knight faced some adversity throughout and also had to fight through a numbers disadvantage but he also looked dominant at times throughout the match, using his size advantage. Rose didn’t show many signs of fatigue after wrestling his second match of the night and the two had a pretty evenly matched bout overall.

Following the conclusion of the match between Rose and Dark Knight, Miti Toman made his way into the ring to address Dark Knight. This would lead to a heated back and forth promo between the two wrestlers that was interrupted by Pahlevan Reza who, in his role as the IPW authority figure, made an impromptu match between Dark Knight and Miti Toman that closed out the show. Following the match, Dark Knight left the ring and the lights went out, leaving Miti Toman face to face with the terrifying Demon.

Clearly afraid, Miti Toman attempted a cheap shot on the Demon that would backfire. Demon then was able to land some offense on Miti Toman, finally forcing him to tap out with a submission despite the fact that they were not wrestling a sanctioned match. Demon would then snap his fingers, turning the lights off and ending the show.

Once again, the action takes place in a boxing ring that is likely set in a gym that IPW had rented out for the occasion. It’s likely that there are no pro wrestling rings in the entire country of Iran so making due with what is available to them and being able to put on an entertaining show in spite of the limitations they’re facing is very admirable.

In order to spruce up the set, IPW designed an entryway and a ring skirt with their logo on display. The graphics in the video production also look great as do the promos and video packages between matches.

It will be exciting to watch the upstart pro wrestling scene in Iran continue to grow over the next few years. With IPW, IWG and Iran Pro Wrestling Federation all operating in the country now, it will be interesting to see if pro wrestling’s popularity will continue to grow in the region and how that will effect the local scene. One nice touch in the future could be the presence of fans at some of these events. It could certainly add to the atmosphere if it were a possibility.

Be sure to give Iran Pro Wrestling a follow on Instagram to keep up with what the future holds for the young Iranian company. You can check out IPW Time of Revenge below!
