“How I became a pro wrestler” - De Executioner

Angus Emeadi, referred to in the Nigerian and the African pro wrestling arenas as the ‘’Excellence of Execution,’’ has his ring name as De Executioner. He is the African Wrestling Organization (AWO) light heavyweight champion and title holder. He truly lives up to his name as an executor of excellence in the pro wrestling ring and considering his enormous pro wrestling gimmicks and prowess, his Excellency should be crowned with a world title gold in the soonest possible time.

‘’I was once a weight lifter back home at Ugbuala, Ebenator Town. Ebenator is a town in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, south-eastern Nigeria, predominantly occupied by Igbo speaking people. Ebenator is blessed with good weather and fertile lands, as it is surrounded by natural water. Ebenator people are hard working, and can be found in different parts of the country and overseas where they seek their fortunes. The Igbo people living around there live in families close to each other and are predominantly Christians’’ explained Executioner.

‘’Jimmy Coaster was my motivating factor to becoming a wrestling talent. Before I became a wrestler, whenever we meet at the village at the end of the year which is a traditional of the Igbos to always come back home at the end of the year to be with family members, community people would be hailing Jimmy Coaster my kindred, praising him and pouring encomium on him. I looked at him then and also at myself, I am more muscular and bigger than him and wondering why he is being hailed and appreciated. I now learnt that he was a professional wrestler. The passion was very high from the community people. I then felt that if people can hail and praise Jimmy Coaster like this, they should do more to me as a weight lifter who participated in various local and African weight lifting competitions. I then decided to stop weightlifting for professional wrestling through Jimmy Coaster. He asked me to come to Lagos and I did in 1984 and he took me to Jimmy Palm and that was how I was trained by the two of them, though Jimmy Palm did more of the training,’’ concluded De Executioner.

Angus has weathered the storm in the world of wrestling and has wrestled with the best Nigerian and African pro wrestling talents you can think of. He is looking forward to defending the African Wrestling Organization (AWO) light heavyweight title, which he won in Lagos on the 19th December 2020 after slugging it out with and defeating his Sierra Leonean opponent Ambudim, popularly known as “De Shark,” a few minutes into the bout, which enabled him to clinch the highly rated AWO African Light Heavyweight championship title.

On his advice to the youth, he said, ‘’I want to implore the youths to be patient and wait for God’s time which is the best. A child must learn to crawl first before walking and that is truth. Some of our youths want to acquire all the good things of life within a twinkle of an eye and it does not go that way. The future is indeed bright for our youths, upcoming wrestlers and the game of wrestling but we must keep doing what we are doing jealously.’’
