Golden Boy and Golden Wrestling Federacy plan to support pro wrestling development in Africa, provide training in Togo

“Golden Boy set to train 25 or more Togolese athletes professionally in 6 months’ time”

Golden Wrestling Federacy (GWF), an international professional Wrestling organization based in Florida, USA, which was founded in the year 2018 under the auspices of a Dentist and a legendary pro wrestler of over three decades, Dr. James McDowell, with the sole aim of pulling together worldwide groups and connecting objectives to further actualize professional wrestling development in various African countries as well as under developed nations of the world. Jim McDowell, who is the CEO and the President of the international body, has now focused on pro wrestling development in Africa.

A federacy is group of states with a central government but independence in internal affairs; a federation which can also be analyzed as the state of being joined by a treaty. Golden Wrestling Federacy as an organization has started manifesting the plans they have for Africa gradually by coming to Africa to feature “The Golden Boy” Dr. James McDowell in action in the ring. McDowell’s first appearance in the ring in Africa came at the Battleground 2023 Pro Wrestling Championship held in Yaoundé, Cameroon on the 22nd, July, 2023.

Apart from representing and competing as an American wrestler under the approval of the AIWF management, he was able to support the funding of two championship billboards in Yaoundé, Cameroon during the July pro wrestling contest. As a medical practitioner, he donated 12 doctor scrub tops and 10 bio-hazardous lab jackets to Yaoundé General Hospital, as those would be very useful to the health sector practitioners in the central African nation and also serve as a goodwill gesture to the medical professionals who sacrifice so much of their time, effort and knowledge for the health and well being of all in Cameroon.

As if that was not enough, he felt that constant seminars will help promote professional wrestling continentally in Africa. So the Golden Boy organized a training seminar which brought Central Africa and the other African pro wrestling stakeholders together in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Among those in attendance on the 20th of July, 2023 at the Fido International Hotel Hall in Yaoundé, were professional wrestlers, trainers, trainees, managers, referees, bookers and promoters and professional knowledge was impacted.

Just like he did in Yaoundé, Golden Boy, who is a seasoned trainer and seminar organizer, will be making history with an epic true beginning of professional wrestling in Togo. He would be training about twenty five or thereabout Togolese athletes in Lomé, where he and his partner trainer would be available for a three day professional wrestling training clinic school under the Golden Wrestling Academy that will be held in 6 months’ time. The Golden Boy and another pro wrestling talent will storm Togo for the timely training. “I am set and prepared for this timely project. I know that the training will need myself and another great trainer from the US. I see raw talent in so many youths in the African continent. My visit to Cameroon for a week was an eye opener that if we create time to twist those talents, they will end up becoming world champions. Yes, we genuinely need to go for this assignment so as to start that country on the right path,” Big Jim, as he was called in Cameroon by some fans, explained.

Running this kind of project for free costs lots of money from flight tickets of two great trainers from the USA to lodging, food and local transportation but as the giver he is, he is only looking at the end means of the project, with the aim of raising world pro wrestling champions for Togo as a nation. The training would be part of his lineup scheduled in Africa where he hopes to support the mat game in his own ways. He would also talk about the non-technical aspects of pro wrestling which are personalityl, dress, attire, development of character and so on. He also promised to issue certificates of training participations to trainees after the session.

Can we then say charity begins at home for the “Golden Boy” Jimmy McDowell who has the heritage of Benin Republic & Togo both in West Africa as his lineage? The world talented grappler by day runs his dental office while by night, he runs circles around his opponents in the wrestling ring dealing with them squarely. He is the current AIWF Golden Age heavyweight champion. He has been privileged to compete over the years with world talented and internationally rated superstars like Buff Bagwell, The Barbarian, The Warlord (both of The Powers of Pain tag team), Super Crazy, The Nature Boy Paul Lee, Chic Donovan, Pablo Marquez, Mo, Twin Towers and so on.
