“My coming back home this year as African descendant is timely” – Dr. "Golden Boy" Jimmy McDowell
The African diaspora is the worldwide collection of communities descended from native Africans or people from Africa, predominantly in the Americas. The term most commonly refers to the descendants of the West and Central Africans who were enslaved and shipped to the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade between the 16th and 19th centuries, with their largest populations in the United States, Brazil and Haiti. However, the term can also be used to refer to the descendants of Africans who immigrated to other parts of the world. Some scholars identify "four circulatory phases" of this migration out of Africa. The phrase African diaspora gradually entered common usage at the turn of the 21st century. The term diaspora originates from a Greek word which means diaspora, literally "scattering" which gained popularity in English in reference to the Jewish diaspora before being more broadly applied to other populations.
The term has been used in scholarship to refer to more recent emigration from sub-Saharan Africa. The African Union (AU) defines the African diaspora as consisting: "of people of native African origin living outside the continent, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality, and who are willing to visit and also contribute to the development of the continent and the building of Africa. Its constitutive act of the African Union as an organization declares that it shall "invite and encourage the full participation of the African diaspora as an important part of our continent, in the building of the African Union".

‘’I don’t know how to express myself as I am very much excited about my home coming to Africa this year. I am coming to the motherland. Great to be back to the basics. I am already home sick and there is no place under the sun one can compare to his home. As an African descendant, I so much believe in African culture, way of life, arts and culture, habits, ways of dressing and ways of greetings. Africa's rich history and culture are so diverse that it varies not only from one country to another but also within regions and countries. The culture of each ethnic group holds together the authentic social fabric of traditional practices and rites, art, music, and oral literature through which identities are built,’’ narated Dr. Jimmy McDowell.
On what Africa culture is known for, jimmy emphasized that “Africa has a rich tradition of arts and crafts. African arts and crafts find expression in a variety of woodcarvings, brass and leather artworks. African arts and crafts also include sculpture, paintings, pottery, ceremonial and religious headgear and dress’’.
