Legendary Nigerian champion wrestler Tony Destroyer passes away; tournament planned in his honor for May 28th

Sadly, long time Nigerian pro wrestler Tony Destroyer has recently passed away. Destroyer was the long time holder of the African Wrestling Council Super Heavyweight Championship belt. He passed on April 1st and recently, more details about funeral arrangements and a memorial pro wrestling event to be held in Tony Destroyer’s honor have been shared with WrestleMap by our own Olusesan Olukoya. TONY DESTROYER MEMORIAL PRO WRESTLING TOURNAMENT FOR SAT. 23RD APRIL, 2022

Be informed that the pro wrestling tournament in memory of Tony Destroyer who died on Friday 1st April 2022 will hold at the national stadium, Surulere Lagos on Saturday 23rd April by 9am for the morning contest and fund raising and by 4pm as well for candle night, wrestling contest and also fund raising to the burial. Looking forward to see you all.

Update April 18, 2022: the Tony Destroyer Memorial wrestling event has been rescheduled for May 28, 2022 and a burial is planned for the fallen wrestler in June.
