First ever pro wrestling champion above the Arctic Circle crowned in Inuvik, Canada

The Canadian Arctic’s Totally Arctic Wrestling crowned their first North of Sixty Champion last weekend in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. “Mad Dog” Marty Sugar survived the four man Tournament In the Tree Line and walked out of the Inuvik Special Events Pavilion as the first ever pro wrestling champion above the Arctic Circle. The event, titled Gold Rush, was TAW’s first live event since late 2019.

The young company originally planned to find their first champion back in April of 2020 but the Covid-19 pandemic threw a big wrench in those plans. But Deztro The Eskimofo, Blu Wilder, Nolerbear and Marty Sugar all put in a great performance to make up for the extended break from live shows. You can check out the entire tournament and the full Gold Rush show below.

Gold Rush was a big success on all accounts, and TAW appears to have some big plans in store for the future. Following his title victory, “Mad Dog” Marty Sugar issued a challenge to All Elite Wrestling star Dr. Luther. Sugar said that he would put the title on the line and offered an invite to Serpentico to come visit the Canadian Arctic as well. So far, Luther has yet to respond but due to a few clues and comments we’ve spotted on social media accounts, we think there’s a good chance this one happens and we hope it does! Two stars from one of the biggest pro wrestling companies in the world visiting Inuvik could certainly do wonders for the growth and success of pro wrestling in the Canadian Arctic!
