Pro wrestling history made in Canadian Arctic as North of 60 Championship changes hands twice
Totally Arctic Wrestling was back in action in front of live crowds over the weekend of July 15th and 16th for two different events in two different towns in the Canadian Arctic. This return to live action was their first live show since May 21st of this year when the young company held a 30 minute iron man match at Ingamo Hall as part of TAW Meltdown.
On Friday July 15th, TAW held Delta Daze from Ingamo Hall in their home base of Inuvik, Northwest Territories.
This event would include a TAW North of Sixty Championship match between reigning champion Deztro The Eskimofo and the visiting Cheeseburger, also known as World Famous CB, who is best known for his work in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. In the main event, CB would capture the title belt, defeating Deztro. You can check out some footage of the match on the TAW Instagram page.
The next night, TAW would travel to the top of the North American continent to the coastal hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk. There, TAW would hold Midnight Madness, the first pro wrestling event to be held on the Arctic Coast of Canada. Midnight Madness is also likely the first pro wrestling event to ever be held on the coast of the Arctic Ocean in any country.
In Tuktoyaktuk, Cheeseburger put his newly won TAW North of 60 Championship on the line against Nolerbear for his first defense. Cheeseburger’s reign as champion at the top of the world was short lived as Nolerbear was able to capture the belt in a victory over CB at the Donald Kuptana Sr. Memorial Arena.
The weekend tour for Totally Arctic Wrestling was by all accounts a huge success with one of the wrestlers that we talked with sharing how great the crowds were and how much fun the wrestlers and the fans seemed to have. Things went so well for TAW that they’ve already announced their return to Tuktoyaktuk, planned for November 12th.
