President John Uche addresses Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation talents, urges them to be prepared for upcoming events

The President of the Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation (NPWF), High Chief John Uche, was at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos on Saturday 28th August, 2021, where he addressed the wrestlers under the umbrella of the NPWF. He was full of praise for the wrestlers for their consistency despite the numerous date changes for the highly anticipated Asagba Pro Wrestling Championship billed to hold on Saturday 28th August, 2021, which is the 3rd date the event was postponed to.

‘’As we all know, the event was billed to commemorate the 97th Birthday anniversary and the 30 years on the throne celebration of Asagba of Asagba, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien CFR, JP. His birth date comes up on the 28th day of every July. Among his subjects, where he has provided purposeful, courageous and tenacious leadership for the Asaba people since he ascended the throne of his forefathers in the last 30 years, he deserved to be celebrated on his new, great and enviable age and for making Asaba land peaceful and investment-friendly to all and sundry’’ explained John Uche.

He took his time to explain to the wrestlers’ efforts he has made so far in reaching out to the Federal House of Representative as well as to the senate chambers not to talk of state governments.  ‘’We have a series of championships lined up that will still hold this year. In commemoration of the 40 year anniversary of the Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation, that was officially inaugurated in Nigeria by the then president and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliu Shagari, on the 27th September 1981, with aims and objectives of developing the sport as well as supporting the government in the area of Human Capacity Development and Nation Building and to also oversee the sport of pro wrestling in Nigeria, NPWF will be hosting an international pro-wrestling tournament with this timely anniversary tentatively at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria on the 3rd October, 2021 date’’ Uche concluded.

Olusesan Olukoya, the Director of Publicity of the Federation, thanked the president for all he has done to see to the growth and upliftment of the mat game in our part of the world while Daniel Kolawole (Flying Danko) suggested to the President to always keep event dates to himself until he confirmed and even get the needed support that will make the event see the light of the day before reaching out to the wrestlers and officials with the news of hosting a championship. Chief Mrs. Lizzy Anowai, the NPWF woman leader, urged the wrestlers not to relent in their prayers as that is the only thing that can take the entire to the promised land.
