The first TV style pro wrestling show from the tiny landlocked country of San Marino is now available online

Pro wrestling’s spread and development around the globe is something that we watch closely here at WrestleMap. We often say that pro wrestling is spreading everywhere on earth, and Associazone Wrestling San Marino is a good example of why we feel that’s the case.

AWS is based in the tiny landlocked country of San Marino that is surrounded by Italy on all sides. San Marino is currently the smallest country in the world with its own pro wrestling promotion. That company recently reached a historic first when they released the first episode of their first ever full TV show style video, a release they’re calling Titani Del Wrestling: A Ferro E Fuoco which translates to Titans of Wrestling: Iron and Fire.

Episode one of the two part video series debut from AWS contains two matches, both being qualifiers for the La Scalata del Monte Titano tournament that will crown a brand new National Champion of the Titan, the top championship title belt in AWS. That title was previously held by JT9 but the champion was injured during his reign, being forced to relinquish the belt. All of the action was held from the XYZ Titano Arena, the home of AWS Wrestling. AWS has also established a close working relationship with WIVA Wrestling from surrounding Italy. This relationship helps to fill out the AWS roster and brings in experienced wrestlers from the Italian scene to compete with the wrestlers from San Marino.

In the first bout of the night, Psycho Mike, a member of the Blanco’s Family stable, took on “The San Marino Playboy” Mr. PDP. Mr. PDP was accompanied to the ring by Daniel Romano while Mike, who is known as the Artist of Macabre Violence, was accompanied to the ring by his stablemate and one half of the AWS National Tag Team Champions, Alex Sheridan. Mr. PDP was the fan favorite in this one and was greeted by chants of his name from the crowd while he puffed on a tobacco pipe that blows bubbles on his way to the ring. Mr. PDP played to the crowd early and often, flashing his signature thumbs up pose that adorns the back of his singlet to the joy of the crowd. However, that playfulness would come back to cost him. PDP flashed the thumbs up to the crowd, taking his eyes off of Psycho Mike for just a moment, but allowing the violent veteran to lock in a submission that Mr. PDP could not escape from. Psycho Mike would win the match by submission and advance into the La Scalata del Monte Titano tournament.

In the night’s second bout, the other half of the AWS National Tag Team Champions, Emmanuel “El Gringo” Blanco, took on fan favorite Merak. El Gringo is also a part of the Blanco’s Family stable and Merak is one of the top baby faces in AWS, known by the moniker “The Boy Who Enjoys Life.” El Gringo was accompanied to the ring by his partner Alex Sheridan while Merak was accompanied by his mate from Psycho Rapsody. Merak took a puff of the smoke that was shooting out from the entrance way on his way to the ring, showing off why he earned his nickname. Toward the end of the match, Merak hit a really innovative diving spear from outside of the ring back in and went for the cover on El Gringo. However, Sheridan broke up the pinfall, likely costing Merak the victory. This led to both of the partners brawling on the outside, distracting Merak and the referee. El Gringo then hit Merak with a low blow, followed it up with a tornado DDT and won the match with a pinfall, sending another member of Blanco’s Family to the La Scalata del Monte Titano tournament.

The second episode of Titani Del Wrestling: A Ferro E Fuoco is set for release in just under two weeks (Monday January 17th at 8:30 PM San Marino time) on the AWS YouTube channel. A source from within the AWS shared with WrestleMap that they’re hopeful that they will be making their way to national TV in San Marino in a short time. We’ll keep you updated on any developments on that front.
