NATFORCE PROMISES SUPPORT TO NIGERIA PRO WRESTLING FEDERATION’S SECURITY, PEACE AND UNITY PRO WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
National Taskforce (NATFORCE), a full fledged Nigerian paramilitary agency which was recently signed into law by His Excellency, President Muhammad Buhari, President & Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, to operate as a Nigeria paramilitary Agency under the Presidency and charged with the security responsibility to clean the nation of the inflow of illegal fire arms, has promised to work with the Nigeria Professional Wrestling Federation in the upcoming pro wrestling championship tagged National Security, Peace and Unity Pro Wrestling tournament, scheduled to be held in Abuja in commemoration of the June 12 celebration of this year.
The agency, which was established to combat illegal Importation of Arms, Ammunition, Light Weapons, Chemical Weapons and Pipeline Vandalism, is to synergise with other security agencies to stem the inbound flow of arms and all other banned goods; seek cooperation in effecting actual arrest of the culprits and create effective mechanism to monitor, combat and manage illegal cross border activities such as smuggling of contraband goods to reduce the negative socio-political and economic impact on the nation.
The insecurity and criminality such as insurgence, banditry, kidnapping, robbery, trafficking and so on cannot be effectively executed in Nigeria without the use of firearms and ammunitions, and thus by statistics, it is obvious that these crimes are being perpetrated by the youth, which is the reason the wrestling federation is organizing the National Security, Peace and Unity Pro wrestling tournament, and thereby presenting a National security trophy to be contested for with the winner being endorsed as a Peace Ambassador to be used in promoting peace and unity in the Nigerian nation.
Since NATFORCE is a national security agency, what the NPWF is doing is part of their function in the area of social security. That is what necessitated Aliking De Action Disaster, with the permission of the federation’s president, to visit the organization’s headquarter to notify the agency officially of the coming championship and also ensure that the Director General of the agency and his team are on the ground at the venue of the championship on the 13th day of June, 2021 in Abuja.
The Director General of NATFORCE, Dr. Baba Mohammed, responded by thanking Aliking for the visit, even though the visit was unscheduled, but timely. He was full of thanks and he appreciates the NPWF for this uncommon initiative. ‘’I am convinced that the steps were in a perfect direction, timely and needed more than ever now. I call on the youth of the Nation to take proper advantage of the initiative of the wrestling federation and embrace peace as against youth restiveness as our agency, NATFORCE, will not leave any stone unturned,’’ he emphasised.
The Director General advised all members of the public who are in any way in position of any illegal firearms to submit such to the authority now as his Agency will not leave any stone unturned. The visiting Champion pointed out that the Agency could collaborate with the NPWF mostly in the area of unarmed combat, self defence and physical training on how to bring aggressive criminals under control. The DG promised to get back to the wrestling Federation in that aspect in due course.
