French promotion ABCA returns to pro wrestling’s roots with outdoor carnival shows as Europe’s oldest title changes hands

ABCA Catch held a double header of events on August 7th. In the French city of Laon, ABCA held a free outdoor event as part of the city festival. Meanwhile, the town of Ribemont also hosted a free outdoor show at the same time.

We were lucky enough to get into contact with El Matador, a Portuguese wrestler who is currently based in France, that took part in the Laon event. Matador was able to send us some exclusive photos and results from the event.

Aaron Achilles Rammy of Belgium left the Laon show as the new ABCA Champion. ABCA lays claim to having the oldest active championship belt in all of Europe. Image courtesy of Aaron Achilles Rammy’s Facebook page.

While ABCA has yet to release photos or full results from either show, they’re promising a photo release soon. So keep an eye on their Facebook, Instagram and webpage for more in the coming weeks.

However, we can verify a couple results. El Matador wrestled in two matches on the Laon event. In singles action, El Matador defeated Ravage by pinfall. Later on in the event, El Matador teamed up with Darkmondo and Chris Alvin to face off with Aaron Rammy, Ravage and Alex Curly in a trios best 2 of 3 falls match. The team of Aaron Rammy, Ravage and Alex Curly won that match two falls to one.

We can also confirm that Belgium’s Aaron Achilles Rammy, who is also a former champion of Greece’s ZMAK promotion, left the ABCA Laon event as the new ABCA Champion. He now carries a belt with a lineage that goes back to 1956.
