Could Kurt Angle be interested in REW Pakistan’s World Title?
Is it damn true? In a video from a popular celebrity video service shared by Pakistan’s Revolution Eastern Wrestling, Kurt Angle expressed interest in the REW World Championship.
With the nature of these celebrity videos being that the performers are paid to deliver the video that the purchaser requested, Kurt Angle’s comments can be taken with a grain of salt. But is it possible that we could see Kurt Angle competing in a Pakistani wrestling ring? Angle retired from active competition following a WrestleMania loss to Baron Corbin that Angle has expressed some displeasure with. Could a return to action possibly be in the cards?
Sources from within REW have indicated that they have been in talks with Angle and his representation and that the plan is to bring him to Pakistan in 2022. Obviously a lot can change in the time between now and then, especially with Covid-19 still a threat so no official dates have been announced, but that is the company’s intention at this time. Since Angle is retired from in ring action, odds are that if he does end up making it to Pakistan, it would be in a non-wrestling role but you never know.
To someone not familiar with REW, the idea of Kurt Angle in Pakistan could seem far fetched. However, the South Asian company has worked with, and continues to work with, some big name American talent. Sammy Guevara visited Pakistan in 2019 and continues to produce content with REW to this day. Numerous other members of the AEW roster including Britt Baker, Orange Cassidy, Joey Janela and Dean Malenko, among others, have also worked with the company, producing content for them backstage at AEW shows as can be seen on the REW YouTube page. REW also receives support from government and judiciary bodies that are intent on growing pro wrestling in Pakistan, so as long as the interest is mutual between the two parties, the idea of Angle in Pakistan is very possible.
So will 2022 see Kurt Angle challenging for the REW World Championship in Pakistan? Anything is possible in the world of pro wrestling.
