Finland’s FCF Wrestling to hold yearly flagship event this weekend

Finland’s FCF Wrestling is gearing up for their yearly flagship anniversary event, Talvisota (which translates to Winter War), which is to be held this Saturday, December 11th at Valkoinen Sali (the White Hall) in Helsinki, Finland starting at 5 PM (17:00) Helsinki time. FCF is Finland’s oldest active pro wrestling promotion and has featured top wrestlers from Europe and the Scandinavian region throughout their existence.

This year’s event, tagged Talvisota XV, continues after the company was forced to hold off on last year’s anniversary event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 event would have been the 15th consecutive year that the event was held by FCF Wrestling.

The wrestling planned for the event sounds like it should be good. The company is hyping up the main event of Talvisota XV as potentially the biggest main event in the last decade of Talvisota events. King Kong Karhula and Shemeikka are scheduled to square off in that match. The nearly 300 pound Karhula is currently in his fourth reign as FCF Finnish Heavyweight Champion. Shemeikka is outmatched size wise in this match but has played the role of the underdog in the past, a role in which he has thrived in. Shemeikka is looking for his first FCF Finnish Heavyweight Championship, a task that won’t be easy, but he did score a pinfall victory over Karhula in a tag team bout at FCF’s most recent prior event, their Showpainia show in Helsinki on November 20th of this year. Even without knowing much about either of these wrestlers, the hype video below will definitely get you excited for the match.

Elsewhere on the card:

  • Sebastian Vauhkonen and Jake Luupää will face off in the finals of the SISU-8 Tournament with the tournament trophy on the line

  • Inaugural FCF Tag Team Champions Eesti Express (Nikita and Kert Kukk) will defend their titles against the teams of Dynasty and AI3K (Stella and Walta) in a tag team triple threat where any weapon made of metal is legal to be used (chairs, garbage cans, baking trays, etc.)

  • Ken Kallio, great-grandson of Finland’s first pro wrestler Gus Kallio, will present an athletic tournament. Details are scarce as to what the tournament consists of or who or what will compete in the tournament but it should be entertaining nonetheless.

  • The SAN will defend the Frank Andersson Nordic Wrestling Championship, a championship title belt that is defended in both FCF Wrestling and Sweden’s STHLM Wrestling, against previous champion Stark Adder.

  • Valentine will face off in an open challenge triple threat match against Viktor Tykki and Sweden’s Aliss Ink, the winner of the 2021 Scandigraps Invitational Tournament held by Denmark’s Bodyslam! Wrestling.

  • H.C. Andersen and Ioni will team up to take on the team of Polar Pekko and Jessica Love.

FCF Wrestling has confirmed to WrestleMap that they will be making video of the event available for purchase in the near future. The company has been consistent with uploading previous events to their YouTube page as well, so be sure to subscribe and check out some high quality Finnish pro wrestling!
