Shemeikka wins Finnish Heavyweight Title at Finland’s biggest event of the year

Finland’s FCF Wrestling held their annual flagship event, Talvisota, this past Saturday on December 11th from Valkoinen Sali in Helsinki. We previewed the event on Friday ahead of the big show. In the night’s main event, one that FCF themselves had called their most anticipated Talvisota main event in over a decade, Shemeikka was able to score a submission victory over King Kong Karhula, winning the FCF Finnish Heavyweight Championship in the process.

Shemeikka’s win came before an absolutely raucous crowd. Several posts shared to social media on Saturday night showed the fans on hand at Valkoinen Sali going wild for the new champion. Shemeikka went into the match by all accounts as the underdog, looking at a big size mismatch and Karhula’s extensive championship pedigree on the Finnish wrestling scene. Shemeikka’s tenacity and unwillingness to back down from bigger opponents has helped him to win over the FCF faithful in a big way. It has also helped him to win his first Finnish Heavyweight Championship!

Congratulations to Shemeikka on the big win and FCF Wrestling on holding what appears to have been an awesome and well-attended show. FCF Wrestling has confirmed to WrestleMap that purchase of the video of the entire event will be made available soon. Be sure to keep an eye on their Facebook and Instagram posts for updates on this. From the footage we’ve seen, you’ll want to watch this one.
