First of its kind Wrestlefest event planned for this Saturday in Dubai

This Saturday, a unique pro wrestling event is coming to the Al Quoz neighborhood of Dubai. Warehouse Four is set to be the venue for the event, which will be a mixture of pro wrestling, live music and food.

The event is being called Wrestlefest DXB and is a first-of-it’s-kind event for the pro wrestling scene in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. A source associated with the event spoke with WrestleMap recently, revealing that the idea behind the event is to attract new potential fans to the Dubai wrestling scene by presenting an event that appeals to a wider audience. The Al Quoz neighborhood is well-known for its art scene and is a popular location for fans of the arts, music and good dining. Adding those elements to the event is a strategy that the event’s organizers hope will draw in the local creatives who will then hopefully stick around as wrestling fans.

Outside of the uniqueness of the event, the show will also be a milestone for pro wrestling in Dubai. To this point, all of Dubai’s pro wrestling cards have taken place at the company promoting the event’s training space. Taking the show on the road and getting away from the familiar training grounds will be a big step for the expansion of the wrestling scene in the mega-city and for the wrestlers competing.

Dubai’s WrestlingME promotion is set to be heavily involved in the show with a number one contender tournament for the WME title belt planned. WME Champion Jay Lamrod will also be defending his title at the event against challenger Shaheen in a match that will feature rules that harken back to the traditional British pro wrestling style that features three timed rounds of competition.

In the long run, the organizers of the Dubai wrestling scene hope to make a wrestling scene that is self-sufficient and utilizes mostly local talent. However, for Wrestlefest, some international talent has been brought in. Announced for the show so far are Abdullah Khawaja from WRG in Pakistan, Truman Hudson The Third from the United States, and Carnatux from KPW in Bahrain. Several WME wrestlers who are regulars on the Dubai scene are also set to compete including the aforementioned Lamrod and Shaheen, along with Nova Nox, Cryptid, Johnny Evers, “The Main Attraction” MK, Fayez, Zephyr, Matt Nero, Savage Sam, Thomas Ramsey and Kuya Burn.

Local bands including Metarust, BAFOORY, and Espervene are all set to perform. There will also be hand-selected vendors on hand for fans to shop. Doors open at 5:45 PM Dubai time with the pre-show beginning at 6 PM and the main card starting at 7 PM. For more information about the event, check out the Wrestlefest DXB Instagram page!
