Legends of Argentina’s 100% Lucha set to square off for the first time in over ten years
The two biggest stars of Argentina’s last nationally successful wrestling television program, 100% Lucha, are set to face off for the first time in over ten years on October 30th.
La Masa and Vicente Viloni will be continuing their rivalry in the ring this Saturday for the first time in many years. Since the cancellation of 100% Lucha, Viloni and La Masa have not met in the ring with some believing that it may never happen again. The two have crossed paths since the dissolution of 100% Lucha a couple times, once on the online streaming program Zona de Lucha, but the meeting did not result in a match.
The last time we mentioned La Masa and Vicente Viloni here on WrestleMap was when discussing a new project that both wrestlers were involved with. Many details weren’t available at that time besides the fact that along with the two 100% Lucha legends, kickboxer Acero Cali was involved in a new wrestling promotion and potential TV show that was in the process of casting wrestlers to compete in the new company. Unfortunately, these plans were scrapped after Acero Cali passed away on October 3rd.
The match is set to take place as part of a card for La Masa’s wrestling promotion, La Masa y sus Luchadores. The undercard of the event is expected to feature regulars of La Masa’s crew and some young students that train under the guidance of La Masa. As per the La Masa y sus Luchadores Facebook page, a new venue had to be booked following the match’s original announcement in order to accommodate the crowd that is expected to attend following the positive response to the match and the renewed rivalry between La Masa and Vicente Viloni. Clearly, the popularity of 100% Lucha is still alive in Argentina. The show is set to take place from the corner of Av. Maldonado and Elizalde in Ciudadela, Buenos Aires at 4:30 (16:30h) PM Buenos Aires time.
We still firmly believe that another pro wrestling popularity explosion is on the horizon in Argentina. Maybe this renewed relationship between two of Argentina’s biggest pro wrestling legends can help spark the next uber-successful pro wrestling product in Argentina that we hope will arrive someday soon!
