Quick notes on India’s Wrestle Square and Kerala Championship Wrestling
-Wrestle Square has released a few matches to YouTube that are part of a memorial event intended to honor the life of deceased Wrestle Square star Major-X. Major-X, who was a trainee of Baliyan Akki, a one time Wrestle Square tag team champion and also worked behind the scenes for the company, passed away earlier this year at the young age of 22 and was one of the most promising young stars of the Indian independent promotion. The company has released a ten bell salute and matches that are part of the event including a triple threat match between Mr. Freak, Shane and Zorro and a singles match between Speedy and Kevin Malik. More matches may be coming that are a part of this special, so be sure to subscribe to Wrestle Square’s YouTube channel.
-Further south in India, Kerala Championship Wrestling has announced a new weekly wrestling show that is set to be coming to their YouTube channel. The Kerala-based company revealed that they will be calling the show Saturday Night Battlefront and have released the new event’s logo, seen below.
As of now, no start date for the new weekly show has been announced but KCW has promised that more details will be coming soon. An inaugural taping is set to take place on October 3rd at KCW headquarters and the company is offering tickets to the event with more details available through this Instagram post. KCW has been busy as of late, becoming the first Indian pro wrestling company that we’re aware of to hold a live show since some Covid restrictions were lifted after the Delta Variant wave in the country. They recently released a match from that live show to their YouTube page. Watch the singles match between Kaalah Sarkkar and Druva Kalito from from KCW’s August live event titled Wrestle Onam below.
