Finland’s SLAM Wrestling to sanction pro wrestling title match at MMA event in Estonia this Wednesday

SLAM! Wrestling, who are based out of Helsinki, Finland, will be making a trip into Estonia this Wednesday to sanction a pro wrestling match. However, that pro wrestling match will not be taking place at a pro wrestling event. Instead, it will be taking place on an MMA and kickboxing card being organized by Xplosion Fight Series.

As part of the Xplosion Fight Series event in Keila, Estonia, Finland’s Stark Adder will put his Frank Anderson Nordic Wrestling Championship on the line against American wrestler Zeus Malaki. Both wrestlers are veterans of the squared circle with Stark Adder being an expert in the catch wrestling style. The match will take place from inside of the XFS octagon. The Nordic Wrestling Championship is a title belt that is recognized and defended in multiple Nordic-based promotions, including STHLM Wrestling in Sweden and FCF Wrestling from Finland, as well as SLAM!. The match, and the rest of the event, will air live on Estonian TV on TV6 with a start time of 19:00 (7 PM) local time.

This excursion into Estonia is one of many made by SLAM! in recent history. The company has slowly but surely been making a name for themselves in the Northern European country that neighbors Finland. This match, however, will feature the first defense of the Nordic Wrestling Championship on Estonian soil.

SLAM! Wrestling has plans to return to Estonia in April for an event that we previewed last year but was forced to be postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. That event will be the George Hackenschmidt European Cup Tournament and will celebrate pro wrestling’s first recognized world champion, who also happened to be Estonian, George Hackenschmidt. The new date for that event is April 30th, 2022. With this concerted effort to bring wrestling to Estonia, even sometimes if it’s just one match at a time, it will be interesting to see how well-attended the upcoming Hackenschmidt Cup tournament will be. There are currently no wrestling promotions operating out of Estonia.
