Kerala, India’s Deccan Wrestling to be featured on game show on popular TV station Asianet

Deccan Wrestling shared the news to their Instagram account that they will be featured in the pilot episode of the upcoming Super Challenge Event program that is to be aired on Asianet on Sunday, February 27, 2022. Asianet is the highest rated television program in the Indian state of Kerala and the highest rated Malayalam language channel in India. Content from the channel is also available on streaming platforms around the world.

This appearance in prime time on a major television program in their home territory should be a huge boost for Deccan Wrestling. The company, which was formerly known as Kerala Championship Wrestling, became the first active pro wrestling promotion in Kerala back in December of 2020 when they held their first live event. Their short history has been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic with live events being suspended for a period of time as a way to help slow the spread. But their presentation, which is obviously heavily influenced by popular pro wrestling from around the world but focuses on themes and characters that resonate with the Kerala-based fans, catches on with crowds wherever they perform. The appearance on Super Challenge Event should help raise awareness that local pro wrestling exists in Kerala, paving the way for new fans to begin following and attending live events, and new wrestlers to seek out a more accessible dream.

Besides competing in the game show portion, it appears as if the episode might feature some in ring action from the Deccan Wrestling crew. You can check out the trailer for the episode that is set to air on the 27th below.
