World Wrestling Congo kicking off training, announces partnership
Some news coming in from the Democratic Republic of the Congo regarding the new upstart wrestling promotion with lofty goals based in Kinshasa. World Wrestling Congo is set to launch things into high gear this Sunday with plans to begin their training at Stade Velodrome (Velodrome Stadium) in Kinshasa. Training is to begin bright and early at 6 AM Kinshasa time.
WWC is headed up by Dix-Francs, pictured above. Dix-Francs’s vision for World Wrestling Congo is to help change the Congolese wrestling scene by holding more official events that will hopefully result in wrestlers making money for performing. That is currently not usually the case in the DRC where wrestlers will usually wrestle for free.
Dix-Francs has extensive experience wrestling in South Africa which is largely considered to be the most lucrative wrestling scene in Africa, featuring a long history of pro wrestling, good training facilities and seasoned international veterans competing in the country. Through this experience in South Africa, Dix-Francs has been able to establish a partnership with South African Pro Wrestling (SAPW). With this partnership, SAPW Heavyweight Champion Big Fire is expected to compete with World Wrestling Congo.
Establishing a partnership with a South African promotion is certainly a big step for World Wrestling Congo. Bringing in established foreign wrestlers helps give fans something to be excited about and an attraction that they would theoretically be more willing to pay to see.
