Nepal Ring Wrestling to hold first Heritage National Championship from world heritage site in Kathmandu this Saturday

While things have gotten underway in Dallas, TX for the biggest pro wrestling weekend in the United States, Wrestlemania Weekend, preparations are beginning on the other side of the world for another big weekend of pro wrestling. This weekend in Nepal, two of the country’s top pro wrestling promotions are set to be in action. We already reported on the UWE show scheduled for this weekend. Now, arguably Nepal’s top promotion, Nepal Ring Wrestling Association, will also be in action.

The NRWA will bring their brand of ring wrestling to the historic Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu for an outdoor show that is sure to draw a big crowd. The historic square is a world heritage site and the site of Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex, which was the royal Nepalese residence until the 19th century, according to Wikipedia. The NRWA has done an excellent job of staging their recent events in areas that show off the beautiful scenery of the Nepal countryside and now will feature a backdrop that correlates with the rich history of the country of Nepal.

According to a recent report by hamrokhelkud.com, the event will cost the NRWA around 1.5 million Rs (approximately $12,336.25 USD) to stage. As has become the custom for NRWA events, the match winners will also be paid out with a winner’s purse, with the prizes going up as the match card progresses to the main event.

Some of the NRWA’s top stars are expected to be in action at the show including current NRWA Heavyweight Champion Chattan, Nuwakote Tiger, David, Shine, CJ World, Tanu and more. It also looks like a duo of wrestlers inspired by Spider-Man will take to the ring for the first time as well.

NRWA events are usually very well attended, with the promotion’s most recent 2nd Winter Slam event drawing in a crowd of 7,000+. While it’s on the other side of the world and not exactly directly involved in WrestleMania Weekend, we wouldn’t be surprised if the NRWA ends up having one of the best attended events of the weekend.

Action at the 1st Heritage National Championship is set to get started at 2 PM Kathmandu time. The event is also set to be live streamed on the NRWA Facebook page so be sure to give them a like if you haven’t already. For more information about the event and other upcoming events from the NRWA, be sure to give them a follow on Facebook. We’ll do our best to provide updates and coverage of the show after this weekend!
