Live pro wrestling returning to the Canadian Arctic

For the first time since November 2019, Totally Arctic Wrestling will be bringing live pro wrestling to Canada’s Northwest Territories! TAW is set to storm the Inuvik Special Events Pavilion in Inuvik, NT on Sunday, August 22nd at 5 PM Inuvik time.

Gold Rush, as the event has been titled, will be a historic show for the company as they look to crown TAW’s first ever North of 60 Champion. A four wrestler tournament, which has been dubbed The Tournament In The Treeline, will decide the first champion. The tournament is set to feature Western Canadian veteran “Mad Dog” Marty Sugar, Nolerbear, Blu Wilder and Deztro The Eskimofo.

TAW had originally planned to crown the first North of 60 Champion back in April of 2020 at a pair of shows titled Retribution and Clash at the Coast. Unfortunately, both events were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. TAW went ahead with their June 2020 event, Up All Night, without fans in attendance and decided to hold off crowing a champion for the time being. More recently, TAW has been releasing a weekly YouTube show titled Saturday Night Skoden that features one new match each week.

Marty Sugar’s place in the tournament is notable after this past weekend’s Saturday Night Skoden. Sugar lost quite possibly the first ever “winner leaves town” match in pro wrestling history. Mad Dog squared off with Jarred Kalifornia for the right to leave Inuvik. Sugar wanted to head back to British Columbia to receive some medical attention for his injured ribs, as per his contract, while Jarred Kalifornia just wanted to get out of town. Kalifornia won and now Marty Sugar has a chance at the prize.

Ticket holders from April’s cancelled show in Inuvik will get priority for entry to Gold Rush. Keep an eye on TAW’s Instagram and Facebook pages for additional ticket information and more details!
