Denmark’s Bodyslam Pro Wrestling to hold Scandigraps tournament that is set to display Scandinavia’s best wrestlers

August 14th marks a big date in Scandinavian pro wrestling! Not only does Denmark’s Bodyslam Pro Wrestling return to action on that date, but they’re also holding a tournament with major implications.

It’s the second annual Scandigraps Invitational Tournament! It will feature pro wrestlers from multiple countries around the European pro wrestling scene. The winner of the tournament will then have a shot at the Bodyslam Pro Wrestling Championship! The tournament’s eight competitors have been revealed and with just over a week until the 2021 Scandigraps Tournament winner is crowned, let’s take a closer look at the competitors and what to expect from the tournament.

While no full bracket has been released, we do know the eight competitors that will be throwing their hat into the ring for a chance to be recognized as the ruler of Scandinavian pro wrestling and to receive a shot at the Bodyslam championship. Those competitors are:

  • Carlos Zamora-Denmark, competing in his second Scandigraps Invitational Tournament. Zamora has a background in MMA and has had previous success in Denmark and Scandinavian pro wrestling, formerly holding the Dansk Pro Wrestling (Denmark) Heavyweight Championship

  • Aliss Ink-Sweden, competing in her first Scandigraps Invitational. Aliss is the only female participant in this year’s field. Aliss is a skilled martial artist and has never lost a match when competing in Bodyslam (2-0 according to Cagematch).

  • Bam Bam Quaade-Denmark, competing in his first Scandigraps Invitational. Bam Bam is one third of the popular but sleazy Easy Loverz tag team, a trio of 80’s throwback, denim, neon and tie-dye wearing wrestlers who don’t wrestle with the same style of the decade that their characters are stuck in, instead using more modern offense and usually depending on their numbers advantage.

  • Toby Zane-Denmark, appearing in first Scandigraps Invitational. A veteran of Danish pro wrestling coming up on ten years in the business. Has shown the ability to withstand grueling circumstances and multiple opponents to squeak out wins in the past, having defeated all three Easy Loverz in a gauntlet match before. Can that translate to surviving the Scandigraps Tournament?

  • Hunyadi Tamas-Hungary, making second appearance in Scandigraps Invitational Tournament. Still relatively new to pro wrestling with only a couple years of experience. Made an early exit in last year’s Scandigraps tournament, losing to his trainer, and eventual Scandigraps Invitational 2020 Tournament winner, Emeritus. Another year older and wiser, and potentially looking for vengeance after last year’s finish, could this be Hunyadi’s year?

  • Xander-Denmark, making second appearance in Scandigraps Invitational Tournament. One half of the Bodyslam tag team champions who was thrust into the tournament after his tag team partner, Adonis, was attacked by the Easy Loverz and had his tag team title belt stolen by the faction. Xander surely has revenge on his mind and would love to exact it against Bam Bam Quaade in their first round match. But will that quest for revenge distract him? If so, that may be one of the few things that can get in this competitor with the championship pedigree’s way. Not just a tag team specialist either, as Xander also previously held the Dansk Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship.

  • Gabriel Faust-Denmark, making Scandigraps and Bodyslam debut. The enigmatic high flyer has some experience in the Danish scene as Bodyslam’s preview on their website points out. However, with his high flying offense and the lack of tape his opponents have against him, Faust may make things very tough for his opponents.

  • Ender Kara-Sweden, making first Scandigraps Invitational appearance and making debut with Bodyslam. Although he hails from Sweden, Kara is now based in Germany and has been having some success in Germany’s WXW. Kara has also had singles success elsewhere in Denmark as he is currently the Dansk Pro Wrestling Light Heavyweight Champion, a title that he has held for over a year and a half. Despite having not competed for Bodyslam in the past, Kara’s success elsewhere in Danish wrestling makes The Turkish Assassin a favorite to win the whole thing.

So far, a pair of first round matches have been announced. One of the matches will see the Hungarian Soldier Hunyadi Tamas go head to head with Aliss Ink. Can Tamas hand Aliss her first loss in Bodyslam? The second announced match will see Xander and Bam Bam Quaade step into the ring together as Xander looks to get revenge on Bam Bam and the Easy Loverz for injuring Adonis. Will Xander be able to quell his rage and thirst for revenge enough to concentrate on doing what it takes to win? Or will the Easy Loverz number game be too much for Xander to handle?

Besides the tournament, it looks like some other Bodyslam regulars will at least be making appearances as the company has teased on their Facebook and Instagram pages. For those that aren’t able to attend live, Bodyslam has informed WrestleMap that the show will be available on IWTV, wXW Now and the Highspots Network as soon as possible following the event. There are plenty of options to catch this tournament so be sure to keep your eyes peeled to Bodyslam’s social media in the coming week prior to the event and the weeks after for updates!
