Argentina’s Legion Nueva Era celebrates Halloween with one of their best cards yet

Legion Nueva Era Argentina celebrated Halloween by putting on one of their best cards ever. The Argentine promotion, known for their rowdy crowds, eccentric themes and indie-stylings had their latest event “Esto es Halloween” (This is Halloween) last sunday and they started the show with an amazing match.

Opening the show the champion Pandemia faced off against Maikol, who has been on a tear lately brutalizing opponents left and right. Maikol displayed his freakish strength and striking prowess, but in the end Pandemia’s technical skill and sheer resilience allowed him to retain after a very physical match.

The following match was a blisteringly paced fatal fourway between Chuck Dixon, the high flying leader of the Nemesis faction; McKiller, a seasoned masked luchador from Mexico; Adriano, the Metropolitan Champion of Catch Argentino (Promotion with ties to Legion); and. Teo Griffin, a rising star with the whole package.

The fatal four way was a pop-magnet, with impressive athleticism and daredevil moves from all involved. In the end, the aerial superiority of Chuck Dixon proved to be too much for his contenders and he got the win thanks to an impressive 450.

Third on the card was the open challenge of the uber-talented Ricky Rocca, who keeping with his streak of impressive victories managed to defeat Johnny Fox. Fox attempted to get a quick victory early in the match only to be surpassed by the technical prowess of Ricky.

The Tag Team Title match followed suit with the hilarious pairing of Champions Platino and Siniestro failing to use their usual hijinks and cooperation to surpass the combined might of Terry and Slovak, members of the Nemesis faction. The new Tag Champions stood tall adding more prestige to their rapidly rising stable.

The next match featured one out of the two blood feuds brewing in Legion that had an explosive ending during this event. As “El Amo del Aire” Cassidy faced off with his former friend turned bitter rival “El Verdadero Bardo” Frankie Legrand after a whole year of increasing animosity between the pair.

The ladder match stipulation always invites mayhem and both contenders put in their fair share, breaking ladders and bending steel doors attempting to do the same to their rivals' bodies. A spot fest in the best sense of the word, the rough battle ended with Frankie standing tall with a contract for a Title Match of his choosing in Legion or Catch.

The final match of the night was Guido el Demoledor vs Federico Monzzoni, formerly friends and part of the same faction, once the top of the food chain in Legion. (Guido used to be tag Champ and Monzzoni was the singles Champ)

The destruction of their faction “Seccional La Plata” was a long angle that gradually dismembered their group and any semblance of friendship between each other. All the hate and hurt boiled over into this brutal Career vs Career match, with the loser retiring from wrestling.

Guido won, putting Monzzoni away for good and the show ended in the bittersweet note of Federico Monzzoni, one of the very best ever to step on the ring of Legion Nueva Era Argentina and one of the most well regarded champions of the promotion, hanging up his boots and getting a tearful send-off by all the staff and roster.
