Land of Pride to debut as first wrestling promotion in Indian state of Uttrakhand
A new wrestling promotion is coming to the Indian state of Uttrakhand! Land of Pride Wrestling, which is being headed up by Indian pro wrestler Amit and some other partners, will be the first pro wrestling promotion established in the Northern Indian state.
As of now, Land of Pride has plans to launch a weekly wrestling show called Outrage starting November 13th, 2021. The company has made several talent announcements to date for wrestlers that are set to appear at both the inaugural and future Outrage events. Among the talent announced so far is Amit’s regular tag team partner Arjun Warrior, Rohit The Punisher, SJ Mech, “The Combat King” Abhiraj Singh, Natraj, Vikram, Pranjay Singh, Ajay Kumar, and Sahil Sangwan. Many of the announced wrestlers are experienced on the Indian scene, with several having been trained by Great Khali and competing in his Continental Wrestling Entertainment promotion. Many of these wrestlers have also wrestled in other established promotions on the Indian scene like Wrestle Square and Rising Wrestling Entertainment.
Amit relayed to WrestleMap that the weekly Outrage events will be taking place in front of a live audience in the city of Haldwani. However, the first Outrage will not be the first pro wrestling show to be held in Haldwani or the state of Uttrakhand. That accomplishment instead belongs to Great Khali and his CWE promotion who made a stop in the city in 2015. Amit has shared that Land of Pride will be sharing matches from Outrage to the company’s YouTube channel as well. The Outrage poster displayed on this page shares information on how to get tickets if you will be in the Haldwani area on November 13th or any of the Saturdays following the inaugural Outrage event.
In the big picture of Indian pro wrestling, the launch of Land of Pride is another big step in the development of a strong indie wrestling scene in the massive South Asian country. As more wrestlers are trained and gain experience, they’re establishing new wrestling promotions throughout different areas of the country. In five years or so, it’s not hard to envision a sizable pro wrestling circuit throughout the country with native and foreign wrestlers touring and competing. This is extremely exciting for the development of the pro wrestling scene in India.
With the experienced and well travelled names of the Indian scene that have been announced thus far as being a part of Land of Pride prior to its inaugural event, it’s safe to assume that the product in the ring will instantly be on the upper end of Indian pro wrestling skill level wise. It’s not far fetched to imagine that when discussing the top Indian wrestling promotions this time next year that Land of Pride will land right in the mix of that conversation.
