After several attempts, Argentina’s Legion Nueva Era successfully holds event that has been marred with bad luck

“Mufa” (Slang term in Argentina): Somebody who invites bad luck or has bad karma. Bad luck in general.

After multiple attempts and several cancellations, Legion Nueva Era Argentina’s latest event Mufamania (once called Pandemania) finally happened. Originally promoted as a show booked by the champion, Pandemia, it got cancelled in April 2020 when Argentina entered a Covid Lockdown (Yes, the irony is noticeable).

When Legion resumed shows early this year, Pandemania was going to be once again booked by the Champion, but the second Covid Lockdown, in April 2021, stopped it again. Thus it began being considered a “bad luck event”. After a year of starts and stops, the show finally changed its name and was booked for Sunday 28th of November.

So it was cancelled once again, because of rain, as the show this time was planned as part of a larger cultural event by the club that hosts Legion events. The date changed, the card changed multiple times (because of injuries or just scheduling problems) but finally Mufamania happened this past Sunday.

And surprising many people who thought the whole thing was cursed, it was a pretty decent show.

The opening match featured Mat del Mul, Jeyco and Kuma. The first two debuted last month as part of the first crop of new homegrown talent by Legion’s Dojo and Kuma is a mainstay of Legion since 2019 who still has a streak in singles competition.

After a spot-filled match Jeyco managed to overcome Del Mul’s lethal striking and slyness,  and Kuma’s sheer power and brutality to take the win, heating up the audience for the rest of the show.

Taga Santos vs Maikol was an extremely physical match. Santos, who debuted last month during Legion Dojo, was put to the test against arguably the most dangerous striker in Legion, Maikol.

Their bout took them both to the limit as Taga attempted to go hit for hit against Maikol. In the end Maikol managed to get his opponent to submit after introducing Santos’ face to the sole of his boot.

Slovak vs Cassidy followed suit. Slovak, who was antagonized by Frankie Legrand during his entrance, who was serving as the show presentator, attacked him before Cassidy arrived. The “Amo del Aire” debuted new gear as he reached the ring ready to fight.

Slovak got the win after both exchanged blows that actually echoed on the streets. After the match, Slovak attempted to cheap shot his opponent with his belt, only to be interrupted by, of all people, Frankie Legrand, who recently ended his blood feud against Cassidy and both gained a newfound respect for each other after their last match.

In a shocking turn of events Frankie not only helped Cassidy but also used the contract he won from their brutal ladder match to join forces with him for a match against the Tag Team Champions, Nemesis."

Closing the show we had Ricky Rocca entering for his now almost traditional open challenge. During the whole year he has showcased his technical acumen and prowess. But after some disparaging comments about the event development hell his call for a challenger was no other than Pandemia.

The following match was the kind of match you expect from Pandemia in a main event. Brutal, hard hitting and at times cringe inducing from some of the blows exchanged. In the end the Champion kept his impressive streak of victories, as he hasn’t lost a match in Legion since 2019.

Overall a great show with a very turbulent backstory, leaving only one event in Legion’s calendar this year. “La Última Cena” (The Last Supper) is the 19th of this month and will include a Battle Royale Match with guests from other promotions.
