Pro Wrestling Karnage bringing pro wrestling back to Pencoed in Wales this Saturday

It has been a few years since pro wrestling has made a stop in the Welsh town of Pencoed. But on August 28th, Pro Wrestling Karnage changes that as they visit the Pencoed Welfare Hall for the company’s first event, The First Mutation.

WrestleMap recently had the opportunity to catch up with some members of the Pro Wrestling Karnage front office for a little bit of insight on this return of pro wrestling to the town of Pencoed and the status of the pro wrestling scene in Wales. Sources within PWK indicated to WrestleMap that this event at the Pencoed Welfare Hall will be the first pro wrestling event in the Welsh town since 2018. Prior to that, wrestling was a yearly occurrence in the town. But local residents are already guaranteed to not have to wait three years, or even a full year, for the next wrestling event as Pro Wrestling Karnage has already announced that the follow up to The First Mutation, titled Karnage From The Krypt, will take place from the Pencoed Welfare Center on October 30th.

This dedication by the company to the fans of Pencoed has already paid off, as The First Mutation has officially sold out. A raucous crowd should be on hand as the new company debuts and crowns their first heavyweight champion and first tag team champions at their inaugural event. This is undoubtedly a big night for Welsh pro wrestling and one the fans in Pencoed will not soon forget.

On the topic of Welsh pro wrestling, sources within Pro Wrestling Karnage have indicated to WrestleMap that the scene itself is growing. A member of the promotion’s front office stated that while the pro wrestling scene in Wales isn’t quite as massive as it is in other parts of the United Kingdom, there has been some interesting growth of the sport’s popularity in the region. Our source indicated that prior to their pro wrestling training, there were only three wrestling promotions in the region, with two in South Wales and one in the North. Today, there are about 15 wrestling promotions in South Wales alone. As more promotions pop up and wrestling returns to or debuts in certain towns in Wales, that can only be a good thing for pro wrestling growth in the area.

While Pro Wresting Karnage will be crowning their first heavyweight champion and first tag team champions on Saturday night, that’s not the event’s only attraction. Also appearing and wrestling for PWK will be current All Star Wrestling British Heavyweight Champion, and inaugural NXT Tag Team Champion, Joel Redman (formerly known in WWE as Oliver Grey). Redman has had success in the USA, the UK and Japan. If Redman can claim the PWK Heavyweight Championship, that could be big news for the upstart promotion. It could also be a big stepping stone for any Welsh star that happens to keep Redman from doing so.

WrestleMap wishes good luck to Pro Wrestling Karnage on their debut event, The First Mutation, and looks forward to hearing about the continued growth of pro wrestling in Wales! Be sure to check our Pro Wrestling Karnage’s Facebook page for updates on future events.
