Live wrestling finally returns to Vietnam

After a multi-year layoff due to Covid-19 safety measures, live pro wrestling finally returned to Vietnam on March 5th! From The Ashes, as the event was aptly titled, was held before a sold-out audience of 250 at Taki7 Studio in Ho Chi Minh City.

This was only VPW’s second live event with their new pro wrestling ring. The company was able to obtain the ring after months and years of efforts prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to Covid-19, VPW was only able to use the ring on a limited number of occasions during the pandemic lockdown period, in particular on their War House and Roar of the Tiger series on their YouTube channel. But that should all change now that live wrestling has returned to the Southeast Asian country. Before we get to the action from March 5th, here’s an English language preview of the card provided by VPW.

As for the action in the ring, VPW has begun to release some clips from the show to their YouTube page and has just released the first match from the event. That match is a singles match between Kira and An D. So far, VPW hasn’t provided full results for the event and since they’re working to release match videos from the show, we think it’s best that you check out the matches yourself rather than us spoiling any results. You can check out the singles match between Kira and An D below.

Since the match videos are starting to make their way to YouTube, now would be a good time to subscribe to the VPW page! VPW will continue to post the remaining matches from the event over the next couple of weeks.

The crowd reactions and media coverage have all been positive with clips from the event even being shown on local news telecasts.

It’s great to see the passionate wrestlers from VPW getting a chance to perform in front of the supportive crowds that they always draw in. The fact that their first event back sold out so quickly is a good sign moving forward, too. Live pro wrestling is back in Vietnam and the future of the scene there is very bright!
