George Hackenschmidt Cup tournament set to be held this weekend in Estonia with worldwide PPV available

Slam Wrestling out of Finland has made a second home for themselves in the country of Estonia. This Saturday, they will be honoring one of pro wrestling’s pioneers and the wrestler widely recognized as being pro wrestling’s first world champion, George Hackenschmidt, with a tournament in his namesake in his home country of Estonia.

Slam Wrestling, who is registered as a pro wrestling company in both Estonia and Finland, has been holding events in Estonia here and there but this tournament will be the company‘s premier event in Estonia thus far. The show will feature two semifinal matches and a tournament championship with the winner to be presented with the inaugural George Hackenschmidt Cup. Slam attempted to hold the inaugural Hackenschmidt Cup tournament last year but was forced to postpone due to COVID-19 protocols.

In one of the night’s two semifinal matches, Estonia native Mikk Vainula will take on Heimo The Wildman. Vainula will have a chance to keep the George Hackenschmidt Cup in Estonia with a tournament win but taming the wild man will surely not be an easy task.

In the tournament’s second semifinal match, The Rebel Starbuck will take on Tucker. Starbuck is a wrestling legend in Finland and a founding father of the wrestling scene in the country. Tucker will be making the long trek to Tallinn, Estonia from Northern Ireland. A win by Starbuck to advance to the finals will further cement his legacy on the Finnish pro wrestling scene while a win by Tucker would certainly go a long way in establishing himself as a major star in the region.

The event has plenty of international flavor as well as wrestlers seem to be traveling from far and wide to get a chance to compete at the event. In a non-tournament singles match, Randy Terrez of Mexico will square off with Hungary’s Captain Blake Steamer. Also advertised for the show so far have been Heidi Katrina from the UK, Dylan Broda of Toronto, Canada, Zeus Malaki of Chicago, USA, Justin Joy of Poland, and Myla Grace of Ireland. Some of Slam’s top Finnish wrestlers are also advertised to be in action on the card including Nordic Wrestling Champion Stark Adder, Timo-Tuomas Suosalo, and Miika Forstrom.

So far, the show has gotten some plugs from some people in high places in the pro wrestling industry including Chris Jericho. The event is set to be available on pay per view worldwide via Prime Fight through their Prime Fight Play platform with the show itself being available at this link for a cost of 5.99 Euros. Tickets are also available for fans based in Estonia that would like to attend the event. Those tickets are available at this link. The action is set to kick off at 7 PM Tallinn, Estonia time from Helitehas. For additional information, you can check out the Slam Wrestling website and Facebook page.
