Argentina’s Legion Nueva Era and Catch Argentino reaffirm partnership and promise big things with new joint statement

Two of Argentina’s most promising indie promotions have released an announcement regarding their intentions to continue to work together. Legion Nueva Era, who is known for having perhaps the strongest and most rabid fan base in all of Argentina and is home to current champion Pandemia (who was previously pointed out as an Argentinian wrestler to watch in our Hot Tag series), and Catch Argentino, who recently completed the extremely innovative tournament for their new Condor Championship, have released the following statement.

For our non-Spanish speaking readers, here is a translation of the joint statement:

”Annoucement

In September of 2018, Legion Nueva Era Argentina and Catch Argentino gave rise to a talent exchange agreement between both groups, which has been reaffirmed. Every year, wrestlers from both groups have crossed each other. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, it could not continue.

The relationship between both groups will not change. We affirm our alliance of enormous trust. Therefore, we want to announce it in how much we took a great step for the true union of Argentine wrestling and we are going for much more.”

This type of cooperation between two of the rising independent promotions in Argentina can only help the wrestling scene in the country. There is currently a wrestling boom that’s taking off in Argentina’s neighboring country of Chile. It was mentioned in our referenced Hot Tag piece on Argentina that many within the country’s independent wrestling scene had been looking to Chile as a model for what the Argentine independent wrestling scene could become. Agreements like this, which allow wrestlers more opportunities to wrestle, gain experience and hone their craft is certainly a step in the right direction of cultivating a scene that could flourish in the country. There is, after all, a long history of pro wrestling success in the country, with Titanes En El Ring being one of Argentina’s most successful television programs throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. The return of a prosperous wrestling scene in Argentina is certainly within the realm of possibility and the path there may be getting started now.
