New Egyptian Promotion Releases First In Ring Video Segment
A brand new wrestling promotion is launching in Egypt and they’ve released their first in ring content. Pro Wrestling Organization, which is based in Cairo, is intent on making a big impression with the Egyptian fans and has brought in some former WWE superstars to help do that. In the video below, “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters and Carlito are introduced as being the competitors that will be vying for the first chance to be called PWO World Heavyweight Champion. A third former WWE superstar, Ricardo Rodriguez, joins in on the fun by introducing Egyptian wrestler Walid “The Dragon” Fathy, resulting in a three way brawl. While it is not confirmed in the video, it appears as if the originally planned heavyweight championship match will instead be a triple threat match with Fathy involved.
PWO looks impressive in their first presentation as their production value and presentation is of a high quality. Aside from Carlito and Chris Masters, Sammy Guevara has also recently made an appearance for the upstart Egyptian promotion. With popular wrestling stars and high production value, the prospects for PWO making a big mark in the Northern African country look very good.
Another interesting tidbit that can be plucked from PWO’s Facebook page is footage of the wrestlers in training. In many of the videos, Ricardo Rodriguez can be seen leading the training and teaching the wrestlers the lucha libre style of wrestling. While not every wrestler will practice lucha libre in the ring, this would be a big difference in style than from what is usually seen throughout Africa or the Middle East. Having a unique product with well known wrestlers can only be beneficial to the upstart promotion and it will be exciting to watch the popularity of pro wrestling grow in the area.
