Middle Kingdom Wrestling announces long term project, "MKW Belt & Road Championship Tour"; remains committed to promoting pro wrestling through China's Belt and Road initiative
Since the initial announcement of the "MKW Belt & Road Championship" in 2018 - the first pro wrestling championship ever coined after the Belt and Road initiative (BRI) - Middle Kingdom Wrestling (MKW) has been producing events and activities with the goal of demonstrating the positive aspects of pro wrestling to go along with the unique qualities of China's Belt and Road initiative. The BRI is an ambitious global infrastructure strategy that has resulted in dozens of major international projects across nearly 70 countries -- all aimed towards bringing on a new age of connectivity through economic trade routes and intercultural people-to-people bonds.
Pro wrestling has continued to grow within China and with more fans than ever having access to pro wrestling related content in China, thanks to the growing fan base that MKW has helped cultivate through pro wrestling touring events throughout China, affiliated wrestling schools and the popular online series "MKW Blast-off".
MKW president and owner, Adrian Gomez, commented, "We feel that diplomacy in the realm of sports and arts is where we will see some of the biggest opportunities for positive development through the Belt and Road, and we firmly believe that the nature of pro wrestling, can showcase athletics and artistry like nothing else, especially as a touring brand along BRI member countries."
