New video detailing incredible story of pro wrestler turned Nigerian king released
The story of Ladi The African Tiger is one of the most interesting in pro wrestling and one that has been shared on this site before in a piece by Olusesan Olukoya. In short, Ladi, whose real name is HRH Oba James Oladipo Aroko Ola Buremoh Ajagungbade 1, came to the United States for schooling. While in the USA, Ladi excelled in sports including American football. Being a fan of pro wrestling, Ladi made it a point to attend events in the Houston area in the early 1980’s. While attending one event as a fan, he was spotted and approached by pro wrestling legend “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd. Ladd convinced Ladi that he should consider training to become a pro wrestler.
From there, Ladi would compete for a while in the Texas area before moving back home to Nigeria to compete. While in Nigeria, he was instrumental in bringing American wrestling stars such as Michael Hayes and many more to the country to wrestle.
Following his career in the ring, Ladi was summoned by his family back home to ascend to the throne as king and serve as the Onidera of Idera. Today, while still serving as the king of Idera, Ladi also doubles as a tour bus driver in New York City, using some of those earnings to help provide for his subjects. It’s a very fascinating story and you can watch the video, which was recently released by journalist Adeola Fayehun, by clicking the link below:
