Brazzaville based wrestler Bois Sacré passes away, honored with wrestling show featuring wrestlers from multiple African countries

Brazzaville-based wrestler Bois Sacré passed away earlier this month and this past weekend, was honored with a memorial wrestling show that was part of the wrestler’s funeral. The event took place Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Nicole Oba Gymnasium in Brazzaville. The memorial event was the first time wrestling returned to the venue since the WrestleMap Exclusive event The Brawl in Brazzaville took place at the arena back in December.

According to one wrestler involved in the event, wrestlers from the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola all competed at the memorial. Catch Club S from Brazzaville was also well represented at the event with a few of their wrestlers in action. We also know that Brazzaville catch fetiche legend Yaya Palmas was in action against Puma Végéta and champion of Brazzaville in classic pro wrestling style, RTGA Du Pouvoir Lion, wrestled against Angola’s Coeur De Lion. While full details have been hard to come by, we have been able to round up some photos and video from the event that we’ll share with you here.

Footage of what appears to be Bois Sacré’s casket in the ring with many wrestlers gathered around. It appears as if the casket may have been involved in either a match or some type of segment where one of the wrestlers used their catch fetiche (or voodoo wrestling) skills on display.

May 1, 2022 Update: We were able to track down a lot more video from the event including lots more match footage including more footage from the Yaya Palmas and Puma Végéta match that was mentioned above.
